Half of the month of April is devoted to taking the state test; AASA and AZSci. Students took the writing portion of the test last week. Fifth and eighth graders took the AZSci last week also. This week, all four grades will take the Reading and Math portions of the test.

In April, we have three sports going on. We have boy's basketball, girl's softball, and boy's and girl's track. All 3 teams are off to successful starts. The boy's basketball team is 2-2. They had a 7 point lead with 3 minutes to play in their last game against Cactus Junior High. Jace Jose had 19 pts in the first half of the game. Jace made five 3-pointers in the first half. The girl's softball team is off to a 3-1 start. The team returned many of the same students as last year and has a lot of experience. Track and Field has had students placing at every meet. Hunter Jose won the shot put in the last meet. Lili Schurz was third in long jump.

Families of 8th grade students, after the weekend of Easter Sunday, 8th graders will only have 21 days of school left. About 4 of those days will be reserved for NWEA testing in May. So, we are down to about 17 actual school days left. Mrs. Murphy is preparing their senior trips. They will have day trips in state. We will communicate those dates and events to you as soon as they are confirmed. We also plan on having a banquet the night before promotion, as we did last year. We will also communicate that to families in the near future.
